Bane of the Powerful is a Legendary Gem in Diablo III. It can only be socketed into Amulets and Rings, and drops from Greater Rift Guardians.

Properties:
- Gain 20% increased damage for 30 seconds after killing an elite pack.
- Upgrade: +1 second duration per Rank.
- Max: 180 seconds at Rank 150.
- Increases damage against elites and reduces damage taken from elites by 15% (Requires Rank 25)

Notes[]
- The damage increase is multiplicative.
- All enemies in the pack must be defeated before the gem's buff will activate. This includes minions if present, not just the Rare Monster or Unique Monster of the pack.
- This is a contrast to normal progress orbs which drop directly only the Rare/Champion to be killed, but is mimicked by the Altar of Rites Reaper seal which drops an additional Progress orb when the pack is defeated.
- Dying removes the buff.
Tips[]
- This pairs well with Nemesis Bracers, which generate more elites to keep the damage bonus going.
Bugs[]
- In 2.1.0, this gem's effect triggered whenever player killed an Illusionist affix illusion.
