Body Armor

From Diablo Wiki

Body Armor could be any thing from Rags to Gothic Plate. Armor is equipped to improve your defense rating. It is a good idea to keep your armor in good shape. Because if it's durability hits zero, the armor will become useless and cannot be used until it is repaired. Armor that provides good protection often needs more strength to wear. Light armors include everything from Quilted Armor to Studded Leather Armor. Medium armor includes mails from Chain Mail to Splint Mail. And heavy armor are metal plates ranging from Light Plate to Ancient Armor.
