With fairly high damage for a one-handed weapon, the Butcher's Pupil is a useful weapon. Compounded with its chances of inflicting Deadly Strike or Open Wounds, the Butcher's Pupil can rack up a surprising amount of damage. It is a worthy successor to the Butcher's Cleaver from the original Diablo.
The Butcher's Pupil cannot drop as Ethereal, since it has a default Indestructible mod.

- The Butcher's Pupil could be a reference to the Butcher, from Diablo. If this were the case, the Butcher's Pupil would be the second weapon (besides The Butcher's Cleaver) to reference him.
- Although the Butcher's Pupil is Indestructible, the original Butcher's Cleaver has an oddly low durability.
