"The corruption of the Sisterhood is perhaps the worst atrocity that the surviving Rogues endure. The sight of their own sisters, marching against them in service of their enemy, drives the Sisterhood into deep despair. The tainted Sisters are seldom caught alone, preferring to attack in groups. Many of the corrupted ones have forgotten their skills with ranged weapons, or are so driven by Hell's rage, that they blindly melee with whatever weapon is at hand."

- Monster description(src)

"Though the lowest rank of Corrupt Rogue, both Dark and Vile Hunters are rightly feared when they appear in mortal lands. Flesh Hunters have achieved ultimate corruption and feed upon the flesh of mortals whom they've slain. A steady influx of flesh and demonic influence grants Flesh Hunters terrible strength, and the ability to shake off damage that would fell a lesser creature."

- Monster summary(src)

Corrupt Rogues are monsters found in Diablo II. They were once part of the Sisterhood of the Sightless Eye, but were corrupted and turned into demon warriors by demon queen Andariel. They still wield the same weapons they did before being corrupted though, and attack blindly with rage with their swords and shields. Upon killing them, their spirits are freed and rise upwards as they disappear.

In-game[]

Corrupt Rogues come in five variants: Dark Hunter, Vile Hunter, Dark Stalker, Black Rogue and Flesh Hunter. These monsters have only one attack and do not have any added elemental damage. On Hell difficulty, they are immune to Cold.

Corrupt Rogue Unused Graphics

Unused Look

There are unused graphics for the basic melee Corrupt Rogues, with a very bird-like head. Unfortunately, they cannot be used in the game because when the monster attacks, they change to Blood Raven-graphics. They would have most likely been used for Battlemaid Sarina. Furthermore, they have an unused base color palette where they look more human-like.

The monster planning sheet of Act I shows that there were Undead Rogues planned for said act, and they were involved in a specific Quest as well.

Trivia[]

This section contains facts and trivia relevant to this article.
  • The Corrupt Rogues were perhaps the only monsters of Diablo II which were componentized as fully as the game's classes. They can technically wield any weapon within the game. This is because they were used as a "testbed" for the programming that would be used to allow customization of the game's classes.[1]
