Demon Imps are a class of monster that appear in Act V of Diablo II: Lord of Destruction.
Lore[]
When men were foolish and practiced demonic magics, it was common to invoke the lesser of the demons and subdue them to gain power. Fooled by the small stature of these Demon Imps, their powers were underestimated by the Sorcerers, who often summoned them to serve under their will. Once lulled into gaining the trust of these intelligent and conniving demons, the Sorcerers' "servants" would vivisect them and create numerous homunculi from the pieces, which would become other Demon Imps over time.[1]
In-game[]
Demon Imps can teleport and attack an opponent at range. They spawn alongside Siege Beasts as their "minions". They are even capable of mounting a Siege Beast or positioning themselves at fortified towers.
They are simple small demons that attack with fireball attacks from a far distance. One exception is when they teleport to the top of a Siege Beast, from there its Inferno attack can be quite damaging, and there's no way to stop the fire or knock him down other than to kill the very durable Siege Beast itself, this will not kill the Imp though; it will teleport away and must be killed before it hops into another Siege Beast and repeats the process. Despite their abilities, Demon Imps have a very weak defense, often killed in one or two blows. However, they are often encountered in numerous numbers alongside other monsters.
Evil Demon Huts generate Demon Imps any time a player or a minion is near. These Demon Imps do not drop items or gold and are not worth any experience.
Statistics[]
Demon Imp are the first variant of the type. They can spawn in:
- Bloody Foothills (Nightmare/Hell only),
- Frigid Highlands (no Unique and Normal only, in Nightmare/Hell as minion),

Development[]
- Demon Imps have an unused green color palette that looks like Demon Gremlin, but is actually lighter and less saturated. It was used by Dac Farren in old versions.
- In the Expansion Beta v1.41 files Demon Imps were set to spawn as Unique Monsters in Bloody Foothills.
Trivia[]
- The lore description for Demon Imps puts the timeframe of them being summoned as being "centuries ago." This appears to have been in error or retconned, as both the Sin War and Mage Clan Wars are millennia before the time period that Diablo II: Lord of Destruction takes place in.
