A Barbarian warrior learns to fight with a weapon in each hand; after all, are not two weapons better than one? Similar to the Paladin's Zeal and the Druid's Fury, Double Strike allows you to strike quickly at two different enemies. If only one enemy is within range of the attack, both attacks strike that one, resulting in a rather painful assault on the unfortunate entity. While this skill is quite powerful (it can be effective even in Hell mode), it is often ignored because of the similar yet stronger Frenzy skill. Players who enjoy Double Swing should consider upgrading to Frenzy when it becomes available. However, some players may opt to continue using it, if the reduction of attack speed is too much, or the increased speed causes increased confusion or lag.
There are two interesting things to note about Double Swing. One of those things is its Mana cost; at default level, it costs 2 Mana to use Double Swing. As the Barbarian puts points into this skill, the Mana cost levels off, eventually reaching 0. This negates any problems with a Mana shortage, making Double Swing a 'free, upgraded' version of the Barbarian's basic Attack that he can switch to should he need to strike quickly and painfully to regain his Mana for Frenzy or other skills. The other note of interest is its attack speed- it takes the same time as a regular Attack or the Barbarian's other Combat Skills, but 2 attacks are made. In this regard, Double Swing basically doubles the Barbarian's total Attack Speed, which doubles the effective chances of threatening the minions of Hell through Open Wounds, Crushing Blow, and the like.
