For the similarly named character, see Lysa.
"In thousands of years of records, I cannot find a single account of a prisoner surviving exile to the Desolate Sands. The wastes are littered with bones that have been picked dry by the endlessly circling blood hawks or desperate lacuni. Those who die there meet their end without the sanctity of the Light."

- Lysra(src)

Lysra was a Zakarum archivist,[1] regarded by Abd al-Hazir as being among "the great historians and philsophers [of the world]."[2]

Lysra wrote on the history of the Desolate Sands, taking references from another Zakarum scholar, Brast. She noted that while Brast had accounted for the origins of the area, he had failed to account for the origins of the skeletons of the inhuman creatures that dotted the landscape. Additionally, she scoured through thousands of years of records, but was unable to find a single example of a prisoner sent into the Sands having survived the ordeal. She noted Zakarum's effort to end Kehjistan's practice of sending traitors to die in the Sands, but the emperors refused to change the ancient policy of exile.[1]
