The Hellforge Hammer

The hammer was used by Hephasto upon the Anvil of Annihilation, where he forged countless weapons. It had the power to even shatter soulstones, which it was used to do so by a group of heroes, who destroyed the soulstones of Diablo and Mephisto.

In-game

The Hell Forge hammer is a quest item used in the "Hell's Forge" quest in Act IV of Diablo II, where the player must destroy Mephisto's Soulstone on the Hellforge.

The hammer can also be used as a weapon. It's not very useful compared to the damage of other melee weapons by the time most characters are up to Act IV, but because it has no requirements, it's a popular weapon for people to give to their brand new level 1 characters.

• The size of the hammer differs between sources. In Diablo II, it is small enough to be easily held by a human hand. In Book of Lorath however, artwork depicts the hammer as being gigantic.
