The greatest of the powers attained by those dedicated to Karcheus is the skill to imbue their arrows with the freezing power of a devastating avalanche. Enemies within the impact of a freezing arrow are frozen in their tracks and feel crushing pain, as if a mass of magical ice had toppled onto them.

Freezing Arrow is the third and last of the Cold-based arrows an Amazon can learn. This powerful attack has an area of effect damage and freezing ability, making it useful for dealing with multiple enemies.
Freezing Arrow is similar to the Sorceress' Glacial Spike in that it hits and freezes a small area of effect upon impact. Other players, bosses, and super uniques will be chilled, not frozen. Freezing Arrow can be a bit more powerful however because in addition to the base arrow damage, it also works with Pierce, Critical Strike, and any equipment modifiers such as Crushing Blow and Open Wounds.
Freezing Arrow is less useful in Nightmare and Hell, where Cold Length Durations are reduced. On Hell the freeze lasts only 0.5 seconds. For a fast bow, however, this is enough to keep most monsters from moving very far. Unlike its fire-based equivalent, Immolation Arrow, Freezing Arrow has no cooldown.
Cold damage items have a "hidden" chill duration. This chill duration gets added to the freezing time of Freezing Arrow. This additional time is added after the Ice Arrow synergy bonus. Stockpiling on small Charms of cold damage, regardless of the amount of actual damage on the small charm, adds 1 second, which in Hell difficulty is reduced to 0.25 seconds. Ice Arrow, on the other hand, only adds 0.10 seconds per level. Generally, a single small charm of cold damage is worth 10 hard points in Ice Arrow. The cold damage from such items are also added to the "explosion" itself, although obtaining external cold damage is much harder than fire.
