The Gates of Hell (a.k.a. Gates of the Burning Hells) are the entrance to the Burning Hells. The bodies of sinners are pinned to the gates. Other methods of entry to the realm include(d) the Infernal Gate and Hell Rifts.
"It is easy to go down into Hell; night and day, the gates of dark Death stand wide; but to climb back again, to retrace one’s steps to the upper air — there’s the rub, the task."— Virgil, The Aeneid(src)
- The idea of gates of Hell bears resemblance to real-world literature, including the Divine Comedy and Aeneid.
