Guardian (a.k.a. Hydra) is a Fire spell in Diablo I.
This spell summons an immobile three-headed hydra (head part) from the ground that shoots Firebolts at enemies (these actually refer to the caster's spell, and the level of Firebolts is equal to the character's Firebolt spell). The dragon can only fire at one enemy with each of the three heads, and while it cannot move, it is able to shoot in any direction. At higher levels, the spell does more damage, the bolts travel faster and the spell last longer, to a maximum of 30 seconds. The number of Guardians the character can summon at once is only limited by their Mana pool, spell duration, and cast rate. Higher levels of Guardian only affect the duration of the summon, and not the damage.
Guardian is summoned at the cursor's location within direct line of sight, and can attack foes the caster does not see, so it can be useful to shoot into a room not yet entered. The Guardians shoot at the closest target.
Players gain full experience for kills made by their Guardians.
- Duration: 4 x (Spell Level / 5) + 2 x (Character Level / 5) seconds
- Each head spits one Firebolt every 0.8 seconds
