Perhaps interpreted as a more advanced version of normal unique sword Hellplague, due to its similar properties, Hexfire does quite a bit of damage, although it is not Fire damage as would be expected. It does, however, give a boost to Fire Skills; therefore, it may be best off with either a Paladin that uses Holy Fire, or a Sorceress that specializes in Enchant.
With increased Fire Resist, Hexfire can give its user fire resists that are quite high as far as Nightmare or even Hell difficulty, provided it is combined with other high fire resist equipment, such as Infernostride, Duriel's Shell, or The Rising Sun.
Hexfire also allows a user to cast a level 6 Hydra. Although such a low level Hydra does not tend to be of much use in Hell difficulty, especially since it doesn't even act as a distraction, in Normal and Nightmare, being able to cast Hydra can give physical fighters an additional edge.
