Multiple Shot is an Amazon Skill in Diablo II.

Legend has it that the fabled Amazon archer, Palashia, bragged in her youth that she could best the combined skills of all her greatest rivals. Taking umbrage, her rivals gathered to challenge her outrageous boast, arranging a contest to decide the question. To preserve her honor, Palashia was to strike the targets of all her rivals before they could land a single arrow. When dawn arose on the day of the contest, Palashia stood ready with her bow. At the signal, her rivals nocked their arrows and loosed a volley towards their targets. Palashia gathered her energies, and let fly with her own, single arrow. To the amazement of onlookers, her arrow split into many, cleaving the arrows of her rivals, and moving on to strike every target directly in their centers. This mysterious technique quickly became a martial secret that only the finest archers are able to master.

Multiple Shot is a skill which as its name states allows the Amazon to fire off more than one arrow. While being a good skill for damage over a large area, it only deals 3/4ths of normal attack damage (this includes elemental damage) and only 1 arrow may hit each enemy, making it a bad choice for attacking single, tough opponents. The penalty still applies to versions below 1.10, but it does not say on the skill, and is visible on the character stats menu when Multiple Shot is selected.

Although v2.6 claims that it "Fixed the tooltip for  Multiple Shot to reflect the synergy bonus", as of v2.7 it's in fact still wrong. The actual formula used for calculation is dam*3/4*(100%+bonuses), including the synergy bonus like it would +X % damage from an offhand mod or Dex. This can be verified by looking directly at the dam in the char stats; with e.g. 3 lvl Guided Arrow, the damage is shown as "111% Weapon Damage", but can be observed as lower than base damage from a normal attack still - similarly, even with e.g. 11 lvl Guided Arrow and some Dexterity, the damage will still be lower than 2x the base.[1] [2]

The player can control the spread angle of the volley using the distance between the point clicked and the character herself — clicking far away from the character results in a narrower, more focused volley, while clicking close to the character results in a much wider spread.

Aside from actual arrow damage, leeching and Deadly Strike/Critical Strike works with every arrow, but everything else (procs, crushing blow, knockback, et cetera) only triggers from the center two arrows.

Each extra skill point in this skill increases the number of arrows fired by 1, but also increases the mana cost by 1 as well. When the skill level is fairly high already, one may find that increasing the volley by one arrow makes little to no difference, and after level 23 there isn't any increase (the skill is hard-capped to fire at most 24 arrows). Points placed after level 23 only increase the mana cost with no advantage whatsoever (not counting synergies to other skills).
