Redemption is a Paladin Skill in Diablo II.

Lore[]

A Paladin must be true to his duty and belief that all souls are worthy of attempted salvation. With this aura, the Paladin shares the glory of the Light with his vanquished enemies. With each administration of these final rites, the Paladin is redeemed physically as well as spiritually.

General Information[]

Redemption converts enemy corpses into Mana and Life for the user. The amount converted is usually superfluous, even on very low levels. Corpses are converted regardless of whether the user delivered the killing blow themself.

This is a useful aura to use after (or even during) a pitched battle, where lots of minor monsters die, but it is conversely nearly useless in boss battles. Getting rid of the corpses also prevents them from being revived or used for Corpse Explosion. However, Redemption is also problematic for the same reasons: other classes may need corpses too, and using Redemption restricts teammates Necromancers. Communication with other party members is useful when using this skill.

Redemption does not restore Mana or Life to other party members, Minions, monsters that have been converted, or Hirelings. It also has no effect on corpses that rest in peace.

While Redemption is active, each corpse in range will have a chance to be redeemed per tick (that is, every second). As more points are put into Redemption, the chance to redeem increases, allowing the aura to work much faster. However, unlike most Auras, Redemption does not grow in range as it is leveled.

There is also an item that gives this Aura: the runeword Phoenix.
