Rift Keystone Fragments were items used to open Nephalem Rifts in Diablo III: Reaper of Souls before patch 2.3.0

They could only be acquired in Adventure Mode from Bounties (one for each beyond the first in each Act) and Horadric Caches (two per cache) but now are impossible to acquire in game, and Rifts can be opened for free at any time. Existing keystones may be sold for 5000 gold each.

Opening each Rift used to require 1 Keystone. As of patch 2.3.0 , these cannot be used for anything and can only be sold. Also the informational text was updated and now reads "This is useless. Perhaps you should sell it" instead of "Bring five of these to the Nephalem Obelisk in town and it will open a Nephalem Rift"

Keystones can stack to a maximum of 100.

"A powerful being could use this unstable artifact to open a portal to the alternate reality that birthed it."
