Diablo I rogue portrait

Rogue portrait

The Rogue is the ranged attack class in Diablo I, who is from the Sisters of the Sightless Eye. Her Strength and Magic are intermediate between the Warrior and the Sorcerer, however her Dexterity is much higher than that of the two classes. She is the only character class who could use Bows effectively, since the other classes lack the dexterity needed for higher bow damage and To Hit percentage and are innately slow at firing Missiles. The quantity of Arrows is infinite which means that they will never take an end until the bow itself breaks down and it is of great advantage for her, especially since she uses bows frequently if she's not up for a Shield-and-Sword setup that is. Her Strength is mostly used for wearing heavy Plate Armor since her damage comes as most from her Dexterity. Items such as Jewelry are often always required for her to be worn for an increase in her strength by around 40, so that she will be strong enough to equip the heaviest armor like Full Plate Mail. Her Magic is often used for Stone Curse and Teleport. Stone Curse is particularly effective at keeping enemies at a distance during the combat, while Teleport is used as a means to escape. Unfortunately the Rogues are not as effective in team games, since allies could cause damage to one another even with Player Friendly set on. For example; if a Warrior is attacking, then the Rogue has to accurately target the monster to avoid hitting the Warrior. The only saving grace a Warrior has from accidental damage is his Shield; since there was not a hard cap on Blocking, if he had enough Dexterity he would be able to block the most of a Rogue's Arrows, if not every arrow she fires as long as he was immobile.

Diablo IIEdit

The Rogue from Diablo I was confirmed at BlizzCon 2011 to have been Blood Raven. Her canonical name was Moreina. Eventually driven mad by what she witnessed beneath the Cathedral, Blood Raven was corrupted by Andariel.

Rogue Archers appear as the Act I Hirelings of Diablo II. They carry a bow (with infinite Arrows just like in Diablo I) and can cast the spells Fire Arrow or Ice Arrow. They can also use the Skill Inner Sight to target foes more accurately. They can equip Bows, Body Armor, and Helms.

To be able to hire one of the rogues, you must first complete the quest Sisters' Burial Grounds, given by Kashya. It involves killing Blood Raven, the aforementioned character. Once you've completed the task, Kashya will express her gratitude and lend you one of her rogues. Alternatively, the player can hire rogues from Kashya upon reaching level 9.

Note: Rogues are not Amazons, even if they are also proficient with bows. As such, rogues are unable to use Amazon-only Bows nor can they use any type of Crossbow.
