String of Ears is a unique Demonhide Sash.

Besides a few mediocre bonuses, it features high defense, life leech and damage reduction, making String of Ears very popular amongst melee fighters, although better options may become available in later game.

Name OriginEdit

In the original Diablo, multiplayer characters who engaged in PvP had the option to collect the ear of the player they vanquished. This ear was stored in the player's inventory and when moused over, it would display which player's ear it was. In the early days, this was a great way to flaunt your power, not to mention make powerful parties. That was until hackers found a way to create ears in the player's inventory.

Despite resistance from some fans, Blizzard has supported PvP in all of its franchises. Ears are also available in Diablo II, and the String of Ears just commemorates Blizzard's stand on its policy.
