The chapel ablaze

The Wortham Chapel was a place of worship located within Wortham.

The chapel's interior

In 1270, Wortham was attacked by the Cult of Damnation. The chapel became a place of refuge for the villagers after Skarn appeared before them.[1]

Fifteen years later, a fisherman recovered a strange object within his nets. It looked like the hilt of a blade. Verrall, a priest, convinced him to part with it so he could store the relic within the chapel's cellar, tasking Virgil with guarding it.

It was storage that cost Wortham and the chapel dearly, as both town and structure were set ablaze by the Coven in an effort to retrieve the relic. In this they were successful, but were ultimately thwarted by the Nephalem.[2]

In-game[]

Diablo Immortal[]

The chapel appears in Diablo Immortal. It is not a proper zone per se, but is still explorable.

NPCs[]

Zakarum Scripture[]

A holy text of the Zakarum lies on a pedestal on each side of the altar. It is not compulsory for them to be read.

  • Left Side of the Altar
"Be not fearless. For those without fear are those who have nothing precious to hold onto. Challenge fear. Overcome it. But deny it at your peril."
  • Right Side of the Altar
"Within our hearts exists an ember of light. Zakarum feeds it. Protects it. Through faith and obedience alone can one's inner light repel the darkness."

Diablo III[]

The chapel appears as a zone in Diablo III, appearing in Act I. It is first accessed during "The Doom in Wortham" quest.
